Queens Park C of E URC Primary School has received a glowing Ofsted report which singles out excellent leadership, good pupils and overwhelming support from parents.
The report highlighted that ‘almost all pupils achieve well throughout the school. They make good progress in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and outstanding progress in Key Stage 2 due to some inspirational teaching.’
Also spotlighted was the fact that pupils are very happy in school and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent, enhanced by an interesting and well planned curriculum and a sense of awe and wonderment in lessons, generated by talented teachers. The quality of physical education was deemed outstanding. Governors also came in for praise as being experience and knowledgeable, taking an active role in challenging and supporting the head teacher.
Special mention was given to the reception class. Although some pupils enter with skills well below those expected they make good progress because of first class, planned and imaginative lessons.
Councillor Shirley Evans, St.Helens Council’s Executive Member for Children and Young People’s Services said: "This report is recognition of the hard work and commitment of teachers, pupils, parents and governors who have all worked to put the school in this excellent position. They are to be congratulated on their efforts to put Queens Park Primary in the position to build on their achievements for the future."
David Thorpe, Head Teacher adds: "The successes we have achieved at Queen's Park have come about through the relentless hard work of staff, children and governors coupled with the tremendous support and encouragement from our parents. We will not rest on our laurels but continue in our efforts to make Queen's Park even better in the years ahead."
